Texas Cancer Research Biobank Header

The Texas Cancer Research Biobank (TCRB) was created to bridge the gap between doctors and scientific researchers to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. This work occurred with funding from the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) from 2010-2014. Every year over 140,000 new cancer cases are diagnosed in the state of Texas resulting in approximately 40,000 deaths. The probability of effective treatment with a targeted therapeutic can be improved for patients with defined genotypes. The Texas Cancer Research Biobank (TCRB) collected >2,500 tumors with matched normal tissues, such as blood, for comprehensive genomic analysis. To achieve this goal, TCRB created a robust biobank, clinical, ethical/legal and sequencing infrastructure and collected thousands of tumors with matched normal specimens from patients across Texas.
