You’ll find out how plants and animals can decompose or break down to become part of the soil. You’ll learn about the different layers of soil, including topsoil, subsoil, and bedrock, and how we depend on soil to grow crops. You’ll explore how rich, dark soil has a lot of humus and can hold water well, while sandy soil is loose, dry, and drains water. Clay soil is red and it can hold a lot of water.
