Rococo is an artistic style that developed in the 1700s in France. In a sort of rebellion against the rigid and organized Baroque style that preceded it, rococo is characterized by smooth, organic lines and whimsical themes. It incorporates pastel shades and gold accents and is perhaps most associated these days with the French queen, Marie Antoinette.
