Dissecting a Scholarly Article
Scholarly journal articles have a certain format. Each section will help you understand the ideas being presented.
Abstract: Gives a summary of the article.
Literature Review: Contains an overview of prior research and discusses the theories the researchers are using.
Methodology: Explains how the research was conducted including sample size, participants, surveys, research methods, etc.
Results: Includes data and statistical significance of the research.
Conclusions: Interprets the results and explains what the new findings mean.
References: Contains citations to materials used by researchers. You can then use this list to find more sources for your research.
