Electric Blackberries

Electric Blackberries Electric Blackberries is an interactive electronic music composition written in Macromedia Flash. The listener/player chooses what musical events will transpire, and when. The boundary between composer and listener, between chance and intention, are thus blurred. After loading the file, you will see an image of a cluster of blackberries. If you glide your mouse over a portion of the scene, a musical event occurs (along with a brief animation). Click on that spot, and the music event either repeats or sustains. Layer these events on top of themselves; layer different events on top of each other—the decision is up to you. All musical cells are in the same key, meter, and tempo, but you can be as cacophonous as you like. If you get tired of the noise, click on the red «off» button in the lower right-hand corner and start over again. You will need Adobe’s Shockwave software in order to play Electric Blackberries (free from www.adobe.com). Electric Blackberries works best when downloaded to your hard drive (you will need 44 MB of disc space). To explore this work, click on the blackberries!
